Displacement systems are used for the cooling of data center and telecommunication equipment.
RC Group has been a precursor of this technology with the Heat Hunter systems for calculation centres and for the mobile telephony with the Minipack Dl and Enerter DL.
The displacement technology provides a direct air distribution to the electronic racks without the use of ducts or false floor as plenum. Actually a diffuser system is incorporated in the conditioner introducing cold air at very low speed. This allows a convective distribution of the cold, resulting in a knocking down of the hot spots and in a heat distribution optimization with an impressive stratification of the air ensuring an important energy saving.
The modular predisposition allows the installation of a number of modular units in order to realize a “cold wall” of every length. Mistral control logic (international patent of RC Group) allows controlling the air temperature difference between ceiling and floor ensuring the correct supply of the cooling capacity.
These systems have been introduced in the market during strong internet development period (1997-2000) and have been internationally tested from the most important CED manufacturers of the world.
RCS has a very long reference list of this technology as well.
RC Group has realized and patented a complete system for the technological equipments named Solution. The system matches the chilled water units of the Heat Hunter series with two-way cooling valve and free cooling chillers with the accessory “optimizer”. This combination allows obtaining an energy saving close to 50% compared with a traditional system.
